Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 2 tablespoons balsamic reduction
- 4 oz sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
- 2 slices sourdough bread
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Prepare the Blackberries: Rinse the blackberries thoroughly under cool running water and gently pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Lay the slices of sharp cheddar cheese evenly on both slices of sourdough bread. On one slice, evenly distribute the fresh blackberries and drizzle with the balsamic reduction. Top with the second slice of bread to form a sandwich.
- Preheat the Skillet: Heat a skillet over medium heat and spread butter evenly on the outer sides of the sandwich to ensure a golden, crispy crust.
- Grill the First Side: Place the sandwich in the skillet and grill for 3-4 minutes, or until the bread turns golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula.
- Grill the Second Side and Melt Cheese: Continue grilling on the other side until the cheese melts fully and begins to ooze out slightly. Remove the sandwich from heat, let it cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve warm.
Notes
- Use fresh blackberries for the best texture and flavor; frozen blackberries may release too much moisture.
- Adjust the amount of balsamic reduction to taste for desired sweetness and tanginess.
- Use a non-stick skillet or cast iron for even grilling and easy flipping.
- Serve immediately for optimal gooey cheese texture and crispy bread.
