Scale
Ingredients
- 1 (13.8-oz) can refrigerated pizza crust
- ½ cup prepared pesto
- 1 cup grated smoked gouda
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 425ºF to ensure it’s hot and ready for baking the breadsticks.
- Prepare Dough: Unroll the refrigerated pizza dough onto a cookie sheet carefully to create a flat surface.
- Slice Dough: Using a pizza cutter, slice the dough lengthwise into 12 long strips, then cut those strips in half to make 24 small strips. Keep the strips together on the cookie sheet without separating them.
- Initial Bake: Bake the dough strips in the oven for 10 minutes until they start to cook through but are not fully browned.
- Add Toppings: Remove the partially baked breadsticks from the oven and evenly spread the prepared pesto over the top. Then sprinkle the smoked gouda and mozzarella cheeses evenly over the pesto layer.
- Final Bake: Return the breadsticks to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown and the cheese has melted beautifully.
Notes
- Do not separate the strips after cutting to keep them neatly arranged during baking.
- You can substitute smoked gouda with another favorite cheese like cheddar or fontina if preferred.
- Use store-bought pesto for convenience or make your own for a fresher flavor.
- Serve warm for the best cheesy texture and taste.
