Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- Green food coloring (to desired shade)
Toppings and Decoration
- Whipped cream, for topping
- Assorted sprinkles and candies, for decoration
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt to combine all dry ingredients evenly.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, thoroughly mix the milk, egg, and melted butter until the mixture is smooth.
- Make Pancake Batter: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix. Add green food coloring and gently stir until the batter is uniformly tinted green.
- Prepare Cooking Surface: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease it with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Cook Pancakes: Pour batter onto the skillet to form small circles, starting with larger circles for the base and progressively smaller circles on top to shape a Christmas tree. Cook each side for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Assemble Pancake Tree: Stack the pancakes on a plate from largest at the bottom to smallest on top to form a Christmas tree shape.
- Decorate and Serve: Top the pancake tree with whipped cream, sprinkles, candies, and dust powdered sugar over to resemble snow. Serve immediately for best taste.
Notes
- Use a non-stick skillet or griddle for easy flipping and to prevent sticking.
- Adjust the amount of green food coloring to achieve your preferred shade of green.
- Be careful not to overmix pancake batter; lumps are okay for fluffier pancakes.
- You can substitute milk with any plant-based milk for a dairy-free option.
- For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the wet ingredients.
