Description

Churro Cheesecake Bars combine the warm, cinnamon-sugar crunch of a churro with the creamy richness of cheesecake. Layers of flaky crescent dough sandwich a smooth cheesecake filling, all coated with a generous cinnamon-sugar topping. These bars are easy to make and perfect for parties, potlucks, or a fun dessert at home.

Ingredients

Scale

Base and Topping

  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)

Cheesecake Filling

  • 2 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oven and Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup granulated sugar with 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon. Set this cinnamon-sugar mixture aside for topping later.
  3. Form Bottom Crust: Unroll one can of crescent dough and carefully press it into the bottom of the greased baking dish, making sure to seal all the seams to create a solid crust base.
  4. Prepare Cheesecake Filling: In a medium-sized bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  5. Spread Filling: Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over the crescent dough layer in the baking dish, ensuring an even layer without gaps.
  6. Add Top Layer: Unroll the second can of crescent dough and lay it gently over the cream cheese filling. Press the seams together firmly to seal in the filling and maintain the structure.
  7. Add Butter and Topping: Pour the melted unsalted butter evenly over the top layer of dough. Then, generously sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the buttery surface for that classic churro flavor.
  8. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the bars are golden brown and set.
  9. Cool and Serve: Remove from oven and let the bars cool completely before slicing into 12 squares. This helps the bars firm up for cleaner cuts and better presentation.

Notes

  • For cleaner cuts, chill the bars before slicing.
  • You can substitute crescent roll dough with puff pastry for a flakier texture.
  • For an extra touch, drizzle the bars with a simple vanilla glaze or serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.
