Description

Delight in these Cinnamon Cream Cheese Pastry Puffs, featuring flaky buttery biscuit dough filled with a smooth cinnamon-spiced cream cheese mixture. Perfectly golden and topped with a crunchy sugar coating, these warm pastries make an irresistible treat for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Pastry

  • 1 (12 oz) tube Grands!® Jr. Golden Layers Butter Tastin’ Biscuits
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • Coarse sugar (for sprinkling)

Optional Glaze

  • Powdered sugar (quantity to taste)
  • Milk (a few teaspoons for glazing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or a baking mat to prevent sticking.
  2. Make Cream Cheese Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and cinnamon. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and creamy, ensuring no lumps.
  3. Prepare Biscuits: Take each biscuit from the tube and flatten it gently into approximately a 4 by 3-inch rectangle to create enough surface area for filling.
  4. Fill Biscuits: Place a heaping tablespoon of the cream cheese filling in the center of each flattened biscuit.
  5. Fold and Seal: Fold the long sides of the biscuit inward over the filling, tucking the ends underneath to enclose the filling completely. Position each pastry seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Apply Egg Wash and Sugar: Beat the large egg and brush it over each pastry’s surface. Then sprinkle coarse sugar generously on top for a sweet, crunchy finish.
  7. Bake: Bake the pastries in the preheated oven for 12 minutes, or until they turn a beautiful golden brown on top.
  8. Cool and Optional Glaze: Allow the puffs to cool slightly on the baking sheet. If desired, prepare a simple glaze by mixing powdered sugar with a small amount of milk and drizzle over the warm pastries before serving.

Notes

  • Use softened cream cheese for easy mixing and smooth filling.
  • Ensure the biscuits are sealed well to prevent filling leakage during baking.
  • Coarse sugar adds a lovely texture and sparkle on top but can be omitted for a smoother finish.
  • The glaze is optional but adds extra sweetness and a glossy look.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor and texture experience.
