Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat Waffle Iron: Plug in your waffle iron and allow it to heat up fully according to the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure crispy waffles.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well to combine all wet ingredients.
- Make the Batter: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Avoid over-mixing to keep the waffles light and fluffy; some small lumps are fine.
- Cook the Waffles: Lightly grease the preheated waffle iron with non-stick spray or butter. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the iron, spreading it slightly to cover the surface. Close the lid and cook for about 4-5 minutes or until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.
- Serve: Carefully remove the cooked waffle and serve immediately with your favorite toppings such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream. Repeat with the remaining batter.
Notes
- Do not over-mix the batter to keep waffles tender.
- If batter thickens, add a splash of milk to loosen it before cooking.
- Keep waffles warm in a low oven (about 200°F) if making in batches.
- For extra crispiness, cook a little longer but watch to prevent burning.
- Use fresh baking powder for best rise.
