Mushrooms
- 16 oz white button mushrooms (or cremini/baby bella), sliced
Cowboy Butter
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
- 1 tsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare Mushrooms: Clean the mushrooms carefully to remove any dirt and slice them evenly to ensure uniform cooking.
- Melt Cowboy Butter: In a pan, melt the unsalted butter and add the minced garlic, fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, rosemary), paprika, lemon juice, and crushed red pepper flakes to create the cowboy butter. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Sauté Mushrooms: Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan with the cowboy butter and sauté over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until mushrooms are tender and golden brown.
- Season: Taste the mushrooms and add salt if needed, keeping in mind the cowboy butter is already seasoned. Stir to combine.
- Serve: Once cooked through and infused with the butter flavor, remove from heat and serve immediately as a savory side or topping.
Notes
- Use any brown mushrooms (cremini or baby bella) for a deeper flavor.
- Adjust crushed red pepper flakes to control heat level.
- This dish pairs excellently with grilled meats or roasted vegetables.
- For vegan option, substitute butter with plant-based butter.
- Do not overcrowd the pan to allow mushrooms to brown properly.
