Description

These Crab-Stuffed Mushrooms are a savory and elegant appetizer perfect for entertaining. Large white button mushrooms are filled with a creamy mixture of lump crab meat, cream cheese, Parmesan, and a blend of herbs and seasonings, then baked to golden perfection for a rich, flavorful bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Mushrooms

  • 16 large white button mushrooms, stems removed and finely chopped

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup lump crab meat, drained and picked over for shells
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Other

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking the stuffed mushrooms.
  2. Prepare Mushrooms: Clean the mushroom caps gently with a damp cloth. Remove the stems and finely chop them, setting them aside for the filling.
  3. Cook Stems and Garlic: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped mushroom stems and minced garlic, cooking for about 3 to 4 minutes until they soften and release their aroma.
  4. Mix Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked stems and garlic with softened cream cheese, lump crab meat, grated Parmesan cheese, mayonnaise, chopped parsley, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  5. Stuff Mushrooms: Spoon the crab mixture into each mushroom cap, pressing gently to fill them evenly and generously.
  6. Bake: Arrange the stuffed mushrooms on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Serve: Allow the mushrooms to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with additional parsley if desired for a fresh, vibrant finish.

Notes

  • Ensure the crab meat is thoroughly checked for shells for a pleasant texture.
  • Use fresh mushrooms for best flavor and texture.
  • This dish can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
  • Old Bay seasoning adds a classic seafood flavor, but can be adjusted based on your taste.
  • Serve warm as an appetizer or party snack.
