Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 teaspoons ranch seasoning mix
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Gravy
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup whole milk or 2% milk
- 1 (1 oz) packet ranch seasoning mix
- ½ cup sour cream
- Fresh parsley or green onions, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Season and Cook Chicken: In a bowl, combine ranch seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken pieces and toss to coat evenly. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the chicken until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Make Gravy: In the same skillet, melt unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Stir in the condensed cream of chicken soup, milk, and ranch seasoning mix. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until smooth and creamy.
- Combine and Simmer: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and stir it into the creamy gravy. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer gently for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the chicken to become tender.
- Finish and Serve: Stir the sour cream into the skillet until the sauce is smooth and well combined. Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions if desired. Serve warm with mashed potatoes or rice for a hearty meal.
Notes
- You can substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt for a tangier flavor.
- For a lower-fat option, use 2% milk and reduced-fat sour cream.
- If ranch seasoning mix is unavailable, make your own using dried herbs like dill, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- This dish can be doubled easily to feed a larger crowd.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
