Scale
For the Tartar Sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp sour cream
- 1 Tbsp white vinegar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp chopped pickles
- 1 Tbsp capers
- 2 tsp Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Place the mayonnaise, sour cream, white vinegar, lemon juice, chopped pickles, capers, and Dijon mustard into a food processor.
- Pulse Mixture: Pulse several times until the pickles and capers are finely chopped but still retain texture, avoiding pureeing to maintain the sauce’s characteristic consistency.
- Season: Add salt and pepper to taste, then pulse briefly to mix evenly.
- Chill and Serve: Transfer the tartar sauce to a bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld before serving.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, use less vinegar and lemon juice.
- Adjust pickle and caper quantities based on taste preference for more or less tanginess.
- This sauce keeps well refrigerated for up to one week in an airtight container.
- Optional: Add a pinch of sugar or a dash of hot sauce for a different flavor profile.
