Description

This Easy Peach Cobbler is a classic Southern dessert featuring tender, juicy peaches baked under a light, fluffy batter topping. Perfect for warm-weather gatherings or comforting after-dinner treats, this cobbler is simple to prepare with pantry staples and fresh peaches, delivering a homey and delicious result every time.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit

  • 4 cups sliced peaches
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Batter

  • 1½ cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1¼ cup milk

Other

  • ½ cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish by spraying it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Peaches: Place the sliced peaches in the bottom of the baking dish, drizzle with the melted butter, and gently stir to fully coat the fruit. Sprinkle with cinnamon evenly, then set aside.
  3. Make Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour, sugar, and milk. Stir to create a thin batter; if too thick, add a little more milk to reach the desired consistency.
  4. Assemble Cobbler: Pour the batter evenly over the coated peaches in the baking dish, covering the fruit underneath.
  5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown and the center is set and firm to the touch.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the cobbler to cool for 15 to 20 minutes, as it will be very hot. Serve warm alone or with whipped cream or ice cream for an extra indulgent touch.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe peaches for the best flavor; canned peaches can be substituted but drain well.
  • Self-rising flour contains baking powder and salt; if unavailable, use all-purpose flour with added baking powder and salt.
  • Adding a splash of vanilla extract to the batter can enhance the flavor.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream to elevate the dessert.
  • Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated before serving.
