Description

This Garlic Herb Butter Tofu recipe delivers crispy, golden tofu cubes sautéed in a fragrant garlic herb butter sauce. It’s a quick and flavorful vegetarian dish perfect for a satisfying meal packed with savory herbs and a touch of lemon brightness.

Ingredients

Scale

Tofu

  • 1 block firm tofu, pressed and cubed

Garlic Herb Butter Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (or vegan butter)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or fresh if available)
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tofu: Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into cubes and set aside to ensure better texture when cooking.
  2. Cook the Tofu: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add a small amount of oil. Once hot, add the tofu cubes and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Garlic Herb Butter: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
  4. Add the Herbs: Stir in the dried thyme, rosemary, oregano, paprika, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Let the mixture simmer for about one minute to blend the flavors well.
  5. Toss the Tofu: Return the crispy tofu to the skillet and toss it in the garlic herb butter sauce to coat evenly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley on top and serve the dish hot for best flavor.

Notes

  • Pressing tofu before cooking helps remove excess moisture, ensuring it crisps nicely.
  • You can substitute vegan butter to make this recipe dairy-free and vegan-friendly.
  • Paprika adds a subtle smoky flavor but can be omitted if desired.
  • Adjust soy sauce depending on your preferred saltiness.
  • Fresh herbs can be used instead of dried for a brighter herb flavor.
