Description
A simple and healthy recipe for grilled asparagus seasoned with olive oil, salt, and pepper, finished with a touch of lemon zest for extra brightness. Perfect as a quick, flavorful side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
Vegetables
- 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed
Seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)
Serving
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the grill: Heat your grill to medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the asparagus.
- Prepare the asparagus: Place the asparagus in a large bowl or on a tray. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Toss the asparagus to ensure they are evenly coated with the oil and seasonings.
- Arrange on the grill: Place the asparagus spears directly on the grill grates perpendicular to the bars or use a grill basket to prevent them from falling through.
- Grill the asparagus: Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even grilling, until the spears are tender and have slight char marks.
- Finish and serve: Remove the asparagus from the grill, sprinkle with lemon zest if using, and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side for extra flavor.
Notes
- Thicker asparagus spears work best for grilling as they hold up better and won’t fall through the grill grates.
- For added flavor, sprinkle the grilled asparagus with grated Parmesan cheese or drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving.
