Description

This Ground Beef Taco Pizza combines the bold flavors of seasoned taco beef with melty cheddar and mozzarella cheeses on a crispy pizza crust. Topped with pickled jalapeños and optional fresh veggies, then finished with a tangy sour cream drizzle, it’s a delicious fusion of Mexican and Italian favorites, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Base

  • 1 large prepared pizza crust (12 inches)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Taco Beef Topping

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 1/3 cup water
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Cheese and Toppings

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/3 cup sliced pickled jalapeños
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh tomatoes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)

Sour Cream Drizzle

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon milk or water
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pizza base: Preheat your oven to 425°F. Place the pizza crust on a baking sheet or pizza stone and brush it lightly with olive oil to ensure a crispy crust during baking.
  2. Cook the taco beef: Heat a skillet over medium heat and brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat from the beef for a leaner topping.
  3. Sauté aromatics: Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook for about 2 minutes until the onions soften and become translucent.
  4. Season and simmer: Stir in the taco seasoning and water, then let the mixture simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste and then remove the skillet from the heat.
  5. Assemble pizza: Spread the seasoned beef evenly over the prepared pizza crust. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses over the beef, then top with sliced pickled jalapeños and optional fresh tomatoes, black olives, and green onions if desired.
  6. Bake the pizza: Place the assembled pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the crust turns golden brown.
  7. Prepare sour cream drizzle: While the pizza bakes, whisk together sour cream, milk (or water), and lime juice until smooth. Transfer the mixture into a squeeze bottle or a small plastic bag with the corner snipped off for easy drizzling.
  8. Finish and serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and allow it to rest for 2 to 3 minutes. Drizzle the sour cream mixture over the top, slice the pizza, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Optional toppings such as fresh tomatoes, black olives, and green onions add fresh flavor and texture to the pizza.
  • Use a pizza stone for a crispier crust if available.
  • The sour cream drizzle can be substituted with a tangy crema or a chipotle mayo for added spice.
  • For a lower-fat version, use lean ground beef or substitute half the beef with ground turkey.
  • Adjust the amount of jalapeños according to your preferred spice level.
