Description

Create delicious homemade Reese’s Valentine’s Hearts with just a few simple ingredients. These chocolate and peanut butter treats are perfect for gifting or enjoying as a sweet snack, featuring a creamy peanut butter filling encased in rich semi-sweet chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Shell

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil

Peanut Butter Filling

  • 2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
  2. Prepare Molds: Lightly grease silicone heart-shaped molds to ensure easy removal of the chocolates once set.
  3. Form Chocolate Shells: Pour the melted chocolate evenly into each mold, spreading it to cover the entire surface. Place the molds in the freezer for about 10 minutes to allow the chocolate to firm up.
  4. Make Peanut Butter Filling: In a separate bowl, thoroughly mix the creamy peanut butter and powdered sugar until the mixture is smooth and well-combined.
  5. Add Filling to Shells: Spoon the peanut butter mixture into each of the hardened chocolate shells, filling them carefully without overflow.
  6. Seal and Set: Cover the peanut butter filling with the remaining melted chocolate to seal the hearts. Return the molds to the freezer for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the chocolates are completely set and firm.

Notes

  • Use high-quality semi-sweet chocolate chips for the best flavor and texture.
  • Spooning the peanut butter mixture neatly ensures clean edges on your hearts.
  • Store the finished chocolates in the refrigerator or freezer to maintain firmness.
  • Silicone molds make releasing the chocolates easy but you can also use paper-lined mini cupcake tins.
  • If coconut oil is unavailable, substitute with vegetable oil or butter, though it may slightly affect texture.
