Description

These Irresistible Keto Philly Cheesesteak Roll Ups are a low-carb twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak. Featuring tender sautéed beef, caramelized bell peppers and onions, all wrapped in melted Monterey Jack cheese slices, they make a perfect keto-friendly appetizer or snack that’s quick and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese

  • 8 slices Monterey Jack cheese (about 200g total)

Beef and Vegetables

  • 1 lb (450g) shaved beef steak
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced

Spices

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Optional

  • Creamy cheese sauce or your favorite keto dip for serving

Instructions

  1. Sauté Vegetables: In a skillet over medium heat, add avocado oil. Once heated, add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté for 5 to 7 minutes until they become tender and slightly caramelized. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  2. Cook Beef: In the same skillet, add the shaved beef. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the beef is browned and cooked through. Mix the cooked beef with the sautéed vegetables.
  3. Melt Cheese Slices: Line a large board or tray with parchment paper. In a clean non-stick skillet over low to medium heat, place 4 slices of Monterey Jack cheese with some space between each. Heat until the cheese melts and the edges bubble slightly, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Assemble Roll Ups: Spoon a few tablespoons of the beef and vegetable mixture into the center of each melted cheese slice. Use a spatula to gently lift and roll each cheese slice around the filling. Let the roll ups cool slightly seam-side down so they hold their shape.
  5. Serve: Serve the roll ups warm with creamy cheese sauce or your favorite keto dip. They are best enjoyed fresh and hot from the skillet.

Notes

  • Use thinly shaved beef steak for quick and even cooking.
  • Make sure the cheese slices are heated just enough to melt but not burn to enable easy rolling.
  • For extra flavor, you can add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the beef while cooking.
  • These roll ups are best served immediately for optimal texture and flavor.
  • Feel free to customize the vegetables based on your preferences or seasonal availability.
