Ingredients
Scale
Crescent Roll Dough
- 2 (8-ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
Meats & Cheese
- 8 slices deli ham or turkey ham
- 8 slices hard salami
- 8 slices pepperoni
- 8 slices provolone cheese
Other Ingredients
- ½ cup banana pepper rings (optional for zing)
- 2 tablespoons Italian dressing or mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon or spicy mustard
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan (optional topping)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Base Layer: Roll out one can of crescent roll dough on the bottom of the prepared dish. Press the seams together firmly to create a solid base for the sandwich bake.
- Make Dressing Spread: In a small bowl, mix together the Italian dressing, Dijon mustard, and Italian seasoning to create a flavorful spread that adds moisture and tang to the layers.
- Layer Ingredients: Start layering half of the provolone cheese evenly over the dough, then add the ham, salami, pepperoni, banana pepper rings for some spice, and finally the remaining cheese on top.
- Add Dressing and Top Layer: Lightly spread the Italian dressing mixture over the layered ingredients. Roll out the second sheet of crescent roll dough and gently place it on top, sealing the edges as best you can to enclose all fillings.
- Apply Egg Wash and Parmesan: Brush the top of the crescent dough with the beaten egg to help it brown beautifully in the oven. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top if desired for added flavor and golden color.
- Bake: Bake the sandwich bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until the top is golden brown and fully cooked through. If the top begins to brown too quickly, loosely cover it with foil halfway through baking to prevent burning.
Notes
- You can substitute the Italian dressing with mayonnaise for a creamier texture.
- Banana pepper rings add a nice tangy zing but are optional if you prefer less spice.
- For easier slicing, let the bake cool for a few minutes before cutting.
- You can customize the sandwich bake by adding veggies like spinach or bell peppers.
- Make sure to seal the edges well to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
