Description

Mississippi Pot Roast is a flavorful, tender pot roast slow-cooked with ranch seasoning, Au Jus gravy mix, pepperoncini peppers, and butter, resulting in a rich and savory dish perfect for family meals or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 3 lb pot roast
  • 1 (1-oz) package ranch dressing mix
  • 1 (1-oz) package Au Jus gravy mix
  • 6 whole pepperoncini peppers, from a jar
  • 1 stick unsalted butter (approximately 4 tablespoons)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Slow Cooker: Place the 3 lb pot roast in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker for even cooking.
  2. Add Seasonings: Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix and Au Jus gravy mix evenly over the pot roast to infuse flavor during cooking.
  3. Add Peppers and Butter: Place the 6 whole pepperoncini peppers on top of the roast, then add the entire stick of unsalted butter on top of the roast and peppers.
  4. Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 8 to 10 hours until the roast is tender and easily shredded.
  5. Shred and Serve: Once cooked, shred the pot roast using two forks, mixing the melted butter and juices for flavorful meat. Serve hot with your choice of sides.

Notes

  • You can use green pepperoncini or banana peppers as alternatives if pepperoncini are unavailable.
  • Cooking time can be adjusted depending on the size of the roast and slow cooker heat calibration.
  • For a richer flavor, baste the roast occasionally during cooking.
  • This dish pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables.
