Ingredients
Scale
Beef and Cooking
- 1.5 lbs beef sirloin tips or stew meat, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Teriyaki Sauce
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
Thickening Slurry
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons cold water
Garnish
- Sesame seeds (optional)
- Chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté the Beef: Turn the Ninja Foodi to ‘Sauté’ mode and heat the vegetable oil. Add the beef tips in batches, browning them on all sides to develop flavor. Remove browned beef and set aside once done.
- Prepare Teriyaki Sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, water, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger until well combined.
- Combine Beef and Sauce: Return the browned beef to the Ninja Foodi pot and pour the teriyaki sauce mixture over the meat. Stir thoroughly to ensure all beef pieces are coated evenly with the sauce.
- Pressure Cook: Seal the Ninja Foodi lid and set the cooker to ‘Pressure Cook’ on high for 15 minutes, ensuring the valve is set to ‘Seal’ for proper pressure build-up.
- Release Pressure: When cooking is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes before performing a quick release to let out any remaining pressure safely.
- Thicken Sauce: Switch the Ninja Foodi back to ‘Sauté’ mode. Prepare the slurry by mixing cornstarch and cold water, then stir it into the pot. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens and coats the beef nicely.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish the beef tips with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired. Serve hot over cooked rice or alongside steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- For best results, use sirloin tips or stew meat that browns well for flavor development.
- Adjust the sweetness by varying the brown sugar and honey to your preference.
- Ensure the Ninja Foodi valve is correctly set to ‘Seal’ before pressure cooking to prevent steam from escaping.
- If you don’t have a Ninja Foodi, a similar pressure cooker or Instant Pot can be used following the same method.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce to control the saltiness of the dish.
- Garnishes like sesame seeds and green onions add texture and fresh flavor but can be omitted if unavailable.
- Serve immediately for best texture; leftovers reheat well but sauce may thicken further.
