Description

This refreshing Peach Basil Iced Tea combines the sweetness of ripe peaches with the aromatic freshness of basil, perfectly balanced by black tea and a hint of lemon. Ideal for hot days, this easy-to-make beverage offers a delightful twist on classic iced tea, serving approximately six glasses.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 4 black tea bags
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sugar or honey (adjust to taste)

Fruit and Herbs

  • 4 ripe peaches, sliced
  • 10 fresh basil leaves

Additional Flavoring

  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Steep the Tea: Boil 4 cups of water in a saucepan. Remove from heat and steep 4 black tea bags for 5 minutes to extract a rich flavor.
  2. Sweeten the Tea: While the tea is still warm, stir in 1/2 cup sugar or honey until fully dissolved to achieve the desired sweetness.
  3. Add Peaches and Basil: Incorporate sliced peaches and fresh basil leaves into the tea. Gently muddle the mixture to release their natural flavors without breaking them down completely.
  4. Cool the Tea: Allow the tea to cool at room temperature for 30 minutes. Then place it in the refrigerator and chill for at least one hour to enhance the flavor and cool thoroughly.
  5. Finish and Serve: Before serving, stir in 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice. Pour the iced tea over ice cubes and garnish with extra peach slices or basil leaves for a beautiful presentation.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness according to your taste by adding more or less sugar or honey.
  • For a stronger basil flavor, add a few more basil leaves or infuse them longer before chilling.
  • You can substitute black tea with green tea if you prefer a lighter flavor.
  • To make the tea vegan, ensure to use honey alternatives like agave syrup or maple syrup.
  • Serve immediately after adding lemon juice to preserve the fresh citrus flavor.
