Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 3 cups Cheerios (or any puffed cereal)
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine the peanut butter, honey, and vanilla extract. Heat over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is smooth and fully combined, about 5 minutes.
- Mix with Cheerios: Remove the peanut butter mixture from heat and pour it over the Cheerios in a large mixing bowl. Stir gently to coat the cereal evenly with the peanut butter mixture.
- Form the Bites: Once the cereal is well-coated, scoop small portions of the mixture and roll them into bite-sized balls using your hands. If the mixture is too sticky, lightly grease your hands with a bit of oil or cooking spray to make rolling easier.
- Chill: Place the peanut butter bites on a parchment-lined baking sheet or plate. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or until they firm up and hold their shape.
- Serve: Enjoy the peanut butter Cheerio bites straight from the fridge. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Notes
- You can use any puffed cereal as a substitute for Cheerios.
- For crunchier bites, use crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy.
- Lightly greasing your hands makes it easier to shape the sticky mixture into balls.
- Keep the bites refrigerated to maintain firmness.
- Optionally, add a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness.
