Ingredients
Scale
Bread and Butter
- 1 large French bread loaf (halved lengthwise)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
Vegetables
- 1 small yellow onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 green bell pepper (thinly sliced)
Meat and Cheese
- 8 oz ribeye steak (thinly sliced or shaved beef)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded provolone cheese or mozzarella cheese (or a mix)
Seasonings
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F to prepare for toasting the bread and melting the cheese.
- Sauté Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and green bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 to 6 minutes.
- Cook Steak: Add the thinly sliced ribeye steak to the skillet with vegetables. Cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until the steak is just browned. Season with salt and black pepper, then remove from heat.
- Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter with minced garlic and chopped parsley. Mix well to create the garlic butter spread.
- Toast the Bread: Spread the garlic butter evenly over the cut sides of the French bread halves. Place the bread, butter-side up, on a baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for 5 minutes.
- Add Steak and Cheese: Remove the bread from the oven. Evenly distribute the cooked steak and vegetable mixture over each half. Sprinkle shredded cheese generously on top.
- Melt Cheese and Finish Baking: Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes more, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
- Serve: Remove from oven, slice into portions, and serve warm. Enjoy your delicious Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread!
Notes
- For extra flavor, use a mix of provolone and white American cheese.
- In a pinch, swap ribeye steak with deli roast beef.
- Serve with a side of marinara sauce or ranch dressing for dipping.
