Description

These Pizza Flavored Burgers combine the juicy goodness of grilled beef patties with classic Italian pizza flavors like Parmesan, oregano, and mozzarella. Topped with marinara sauce and fresh basil, these burgers offer a delightful fusion that’s perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a flavorful barbecue treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Burger Patties

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Toppings and Buns

  • 4 burger buns
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce (pizza sauce can also be used)
  • 4 slices fresh mozzarella cheese (or shredded mozzarella)
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
  • Olive oil (for grilling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Grill: Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat and lightly grease it with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Patties: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, grated Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, dried basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined, then shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
  3. Grill Patties: Place the patties on the preheated grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) for well-done, or to your preferred doneness.
  4. Add Sauce and Cheese: In the last minute of cooking, spoon about 1 tablespoon of marinara sauce onto each patty and top with a slice of fresh mozzarella cheese. Close the grill lid to let the cheese melt perfectly.
  5. Toast Buns: While the patties cook, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until they become golden brown and slightly crispy.
  6. Assemble Burgers: Once the patties are cooked and cheese has melted, place each patty on a toasted bun. Add more marinara sauce, fresh basil leaves, or extra mozzarella cheese as desired.
  7. Serve: Serve the pizza flavored burgers hot and enjoy the delicious blend of burger and pizza flavors.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey for a leaner option.
  • Use fresh mozzarella for best melting results, but shredded is a convenient alternative.
  • Adjust seasonings to your taste; more garlic or herbs can enhance the flavor.
  • Make sure to not overmix the meat to keep patties tender.
  • Cooking time may vary depending on grill heat and patty thickness.
  • For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes to the patty mixture or marinara sauce.
