Description

These Sausage-Cheese Ball Biscuit Cups are savory, cheesy, and perfectly portioned breakfast treats made by baking a flavorful sausage and cheese filling inside flaky biscuit dough cups. Crisp on the edges and loaded with cheesy goodness, they make an ideal grab-and-go breakfast or snack for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Biscuit Cups

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (flaky style works best)

For the Filling

  • 1/2 lb (8 oz) breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or lightly spray a 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until it is browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease and set the sausage aside to cool slightly.
  3. Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika (if using), and salt and pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly mixed.
  4. Form Biscuit Cups: Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Using your hands, flatten each biscuit into a round disc large enough to line the bottom and sides of each muffin tin cup.
  5. Assemble Cups: Gently press each biscuit round into the muffin tin wells, forming cups. Spoon the sausage and cheese mixture into each biscuit cup, pressing gently to compact the filling.
  6. Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuit dough turns golden brown and is fully cooked, and the filling becomes bubbly and slightly browned on top.
  7. Cool and Garnish: Remove the biscuit cups from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use flaky biscuit dough for best texture and to hold the filling well.
  • Drain sausage well after cooking to prevent soggy biscuit cups.
  • You can substitute cheddar cheese with other cheeses like Monterey Jack or pepper jack for variation.
  • Add chopped jalapeños or hot sauce to the filling for a spicy kick.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in a microwave or oven.
