Ingredients
Scale
Proteins
- 1/2 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1/2 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
Noodles
- 8 oz rice noodles or lo mein noodles
Sauces and Oils
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Vegetables and Aromatics
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 2 green onions, chopped
Other
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Marinate the Steak: In a small bowl, toss the thinly sliced flank steak with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 2 teaspoons cornstarch, and a pinch of black pepper. Let it marinate for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors and tenderize.
- Prepare the Noodles: Cook the rice or lo mein noodles according to package instructions. Once done, drain well and set aside to prevent sticking.
- Cook the Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak and sear for 2-3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
- Cook the Shrimp and Aromatics: In the same pan, add minced garlic, grated ginger, and a pinch of salt, stirring briefly to release their aroma. Then add the peeled shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque.
- Stir-fry Vegetables: Add the sliced red bell pepper and broccoli florets to the pan. Stir-fry everything together for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are just tender but still crisp.
- Combine All Ingredients: Return the cooked steak to the pan along with the drained noodles. Pour in the remaining 1 tablespoon soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Toss everything together thoroughly and stir-fry for an additional 2 minutes to heat through and evenly coat the noodles and proteins with sauce.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat, sprinkle chopped green onions on top, and serve the shrimp and steak noodles hot for a delightful meal.
Notes
- Substitute flank steak with sirloin or ribeye for alternative cuts.
- Add vegetables like snap peas or carrots for more color and crunch.
- For a spicy twist, incorporate chili garlic sauce or crushed red pepper flakes.
