Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 packet (about 1 oz) dry onion soup mix
Garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the chicken.
- Season Chicken: Lightly season the boneless, skinless chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Sear Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the chicken breasts for 2-3 minutes on each side until they develop a golden brown crust.
- Prepare Sauce: In a bowl, combine 1 cup sour cream with 1 packet (about 1 oz) of dry onion soup mix. Stir until well blended.
- Assemble: Transfer the seared chicken breasts into a baking dish. Evenly spread the sour cream and onion mixture over the top of each piece.
- Bake: Place the baking dish uncovered in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F) and the sauce is hot and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the dish from the oven and optionally sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley before serving for a touch of color and freshness.
Notes
- You can use chicken thighs if preferred, adjusting cooking time accordingly.
- For a crispier top, broil the chicken for 2-3 minutes at the end of baking, watching carefully to avoid burning.
- Serve with steamed vegetables, rice, or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
- Make sure not to overcook the chicken to keep it juicy and tender.
