Description
These Spooky Strawberry Ghosts are a fun and festive Halloween treat featuring fresh strawberries dipped in creamy white chocolate and decorated with mini chocolate chip faces. Perfect for parties or a spooky dessert, they’re quick to make and delightfully cute.
Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 1 lb strawberries (about 14-18 berries)
- 10 oz white dipping chocolate or candy melts (about 1 ¼ cups)
- Mini chocolate chips (for the eyes and mouth)
Instructions
- Prepare the Strawberries: Rinse and thoroughly dry the strawberries to ensure the chocolate adheres properly. Then, line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Melt the Chocolate: Place the white dipping chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
- Dip the Strawberries: Hold each strawberry by its stem and dip about three-quarters into the melted white chocolate. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off back into the bowl.
- Place on Baking Sheet: Set the dipped strawberries on the prepared parchment paper, letting the excess chocolate pool slightly at the bottom to create a “ghost tail” effect.
- Add the Face: While the chocolate is still wet, press mini chocolate chips gently into each strawberry to form eyes (chips pointy-side up) and a mouth (chips pointy-side down) to create spooky ghost faces.
- Let Them Set: Allow the strawberries to sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes until the chocolate firms up. You can serve them immediately or store them in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
Notes
- Make sure strawberries are completely dry to prevent the chocolate from slipping off.
- If you prefer, use candy melts instead of dipping chocolate for easier melting and consistency.
- Store strawberries in a single layer in the fridge to avoid smudging the chocolate decorations.
- Use room temperature chocolate to avoid clumping during dipping.
- Mini chocolate chips can be replaced with edible markers or small candies for faces.
