Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 12 oz fettuccine or spaghetti
- Salt for boiling water
Sauce
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons sriracha sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup vegetable or chicken broth
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
Garnish
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Extra grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Prepare the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta thoroughly.
- Infuse the butter with garlic: While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant, making sure the garlic does not brown.
- Combine sriracha and honey: Stir in the sriracha sauce and honey into the garlic butter mixture. Cook for 30 seconds to blend the flavors well.
- Create the sauce base: Pour in the vegetable or chicken broth and the heavy cream while stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
- Finish the sauce: Reduce the heat to low. Add the grated parmesan cheese and freshly ground black pepper to the sauce, stirring until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes smooth. If the sauce is too thick, adjust the consistency by adding some reserved pasta water as needed.
- Combine pasta with sauce: Add the drained pasta directly into the skillet. Toss well to thoroughly coat all pasta strands with the sauce. Cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes to allow the flavors to blend perfectly.
- Serve: Plate the pasta immediately and garnish with chopped fresh parsley, extra grated parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes if desired for an extra kick.
Notes
- Reserve pasta water to adjust sauce consistency as needed.
- Be careful not to brown the garlic to avoid bitterness.
- Red pepper flakes are optional if you prefer extra heat.
- Use fresh parmesan for best flavor and melting quality.
- You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter sauce.
