Description

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with these festive and fun Rice Krispies Treats. This easy no-bake recipe combines buttery marshmallows with crispy cereal, tinted green for the holiday, and topped with colorful sprinkles, perfect for sharing and joyful snacking.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 package (10 oz) marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • Green food coloring, to taste
  • 1/2 cup green sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Melt Butter: In a large saucepan over low heat, melt 3 tablespoons of butter slowly, ensuring it does not burn.
  2. Add Marshmallows: Add the entire 10-ounce package of marshmallows to the melted butter and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Add Green Food Coloring: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in green food coloring until the desired shade of green is achieved, mixing thoroughly.
  4. Mix in Cereal: Immediately add 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal to the green marshmallow mixture, stirring until every piece of cereal is well coated.
  5. Press Mixture into Pan: Transfer the sticky mixture into a greased pan and press it firmly and evenly into the pan to form a compact layer.
  6. Add Sprinkles: Before the treats begin to set, sprinkle 1/2 cup green sprinkles evenly over the top, gently pressing them in for adhesion.
  7. Cool and Cut: Allow the mixture to cool completely to set, then cut into 12 squares for serving.

Notes

  • Use a greased spatula or wax paper to press the mixture into the pan to avoid sticking.
  • For a stronger green color, add food coloring gradually until you reach the desired hue.
  • Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them fresh.
  • Optional: Add festive candies or mix-ins for extra texture and flavor.
