Ingredients
Scale
Mushroom Mixture
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 16 oz baby bella mushrooms, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Dip Base
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
Topping (Optional)
- ¼ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the dip later.
- Sauté mushrooms: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add finely chopped mushrooms and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the mushrooms release their moisture and brown nicely.
- Add garlic: Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant, then remove the skillet from heat and allow the mushroom mixture to cool slightly.
- Mix dip ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, salt, pepper, and dried thyme. Stir until smooth and uniform.
- Combine with mushrooms: Add the cooled mushroom and garlic mixture along with thinly sliced green onions to the dip base. Mix thoroughly to combine all flavors evenly.
- Prepare baking dish: Grease an 8×8-inch (or similar size) oven-safe baking dish. Transfer the dip mixture into the dish, spreading evenly.
- Add topping (optional): If desired, mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the dip for a crunchy crust.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20–25 minutes until the dip is hot, bubbly, and golden on top.
- Serve: Remove from oven and serve warm with crackers, crostini, or fresh vegetables for dipping.
Notes
- You can enhance the flavor by adding crumbled cooked sausage or bacon to the dip mixture.
- Greek yogurt can be used as a substitute for sour cream for a tangier flavor and lighter texture.
- Leftover dip reheats well, either in the microwave or oven, making it great for make-ahead serving.
