Description

This Stuffed Mushroom Dip is a creamy, cheesy appetizer featuring sautéed baby bella mushrooms blended with cream cheese, sour cream, and a mix of mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, baked to bubbly perfection. It’s perfect for parties or cozy gatherings, served warm with crackers, crostini, or fresh veggies.

Ingredients

Scale

Mushroom Mixture

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 16 oz baby bella mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Dip Base

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced

Topping (Optional)

  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the dip later.
  2. Sauté mushrooms: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add finely chopped mushrooms and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the mushrooms release their moisture and brown nicely.
  3. Add garlic: Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant, then remove the skillet from heat and allow the mushroom mixture to cool slightly.
  4. Mix dip ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, salt, pepper, and dried thyme. Stir until smooth and uniform.
  5. Combine with mushrooms: Add the cooled mushroom and garlic mixture along with thinly sliced green onions to the dip base. Mix thoroughly to combine all flavors evenly.
  6. Prepare baking dish: Grease an 8×8-inch (or similar size) oven-safe baking dish. Transfer the dip mixture into the dish, spreading evenly.
  7. Add topping (optional): If desired, mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the dip for a crunchy crust.
  8. Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20–25 minutes until the dip is hot, bubbly, and golden on top.
  9. Serve: Remove from oven and serve warm with crackers, crostini, or fresh vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • You can enhance the flavor by adding crumbled cooked sausage or bacon to the dip mixture.
  • Greek yogurt can be used as a substitute for sour cream for a tangier flavor and lighter texture.
  • Leftover dip reheats well, either in the microwave or oven, making it great for make-ahead serving.
