Ingredients
Scale
Potatoes and Seasonings
- 1.5 lbs baby potatoes (Yukon gold or red)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
Spicy Honey Butter
- 1 tbsp butter, melted
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
Garnish
- Fresh chopped parsley or chives (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for roasting the potatoes.
- Boil Potatoes: Boil the baby potatoes in salted water for 15–20 minutes until they are fork-tender. Drain them and let cool slightly to handle.
- Smash Potatoes: Place the potatoes on the lined baking sheet and use the bottom of a glass or cup to gently smash each potato to about 1/2-inch thickness for optimal crispiness.
- Season and Roast: Drizzle the smashed potatoes with olive oil, then season with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Roast them in the oven for 25–30 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Prepare Spicy Honey Butter: While the potatoes roast, melt the butter in a small saucepan, then add honey and red pepper flakes. Simmer the mixture for 1–2 minutes to infuse the spice and sweetness.
- Drizzle and Toss: Remove the spicy honey butter from heat and drizzle it over the crispy potatoes. Toss gently to coat or leave drizzled for a bold sweet-heat finish.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish the potatoes with freshly chopped parsley or chives, then serve hot for a deliciously satisfying side dish.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the heat level.
- Use Yukon gold potatoes for a buttery flavor or red potatoes for a slightly firmer texture.
- These potatoes are best served fresh and hot for maximum crispiness.
- Leftovers can be reheated in the oven to maintain their crunch.
- For a dairy-free option, substitute butter with a plant-based alternative.
