Ingredients
Scale
Salmon
- 4 salmon fillets, skin-on or skinless, about 6 ounces each
Teriyaki Sauce
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Thickening Mixture (Optional)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water
Garnish
- Sesame seeds
- Chopped green onions
Instructions
- Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper to create the teriyaki sauce.
- Marinate the Salmon: Reserve 2 tablespoons of the sauce for serving, then place salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the remaining sauce over them. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes or up to 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Preheat the Skillet: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and lightly oil the surface to prevent sticking.
- Cook the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets in the hot skillet and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, depending on thickness, until they are cooked through and have a slight caramelized crust.
- Thicken the Sauce (Optional): If you prefer a thicker glaze, pour the reserved 2 tablespoons of sauce into a small saucepan, bring to a simmer, then stir in the cornstarch mixture. Cook until the sauce thickens, stirring frequently.
- Serve: Drizzle the thickened sauce over the cooked salmon. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for a beautiful finish and added flavor.
Notes
- Use low-sodium soy sauce for a lighter sodium option.
- Instead of pan-searing, you can bake the salmon at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes.
- Serve with steamed rice and vegetables for a complete and balanced meal.
